UPSC CIVIL SERVICES PRELIMS EXAMINATION (UPSC CSE) Analysis (Memory Based)

The UPSC CSE Paper I (General Studies) and Paper II (Aptitude Test) of Civil Services (Preliminary) Examination has the similar number of questions 100 and 80 that it had on earlier two occasions. This time the General Studies Paper gives a total traditional feel and a lot of candidates found it relatively easier than previous papers in last two years.

The 2022 UPSC CSP GS Paper 1 belied a few expectations. It was far more factual and "current" than what was generally expected. One clear departure from the past is that there were fewer analytical questions than what was anticipated. The commission has brought down the difficulty level of the questions in the last 2 years as compared to previous years.

The weightage to current affairs increased this year further as the UPSC asked many direct questions from this area as well as from issues indirectly linked to current affairs and those that had a current affairs context.

There were traditional questions from non traditional sources Paper was more factual compared to last years papers. In the current affairs section, questions are more on factual side. Polity has moved towards traditional concepts compared to last year trend. Economy questions were largely drawn from Current Affairs. About 40 questions were asked from economy and current affairs. The biggest difference is seen in the geography section where number of questions asked is comparatively less than the previous year, especially in the physical geography section. Even in science and technology section, focus was on current topics related to the subject Some questions could be solved through eliminating one statement .Some questions were too easy. This year too it focused on testing the candidates’ basic understanding of topics, which was expected. So "memory" played a fairly big part in 2022 UPSC CSP GS PAPER 1 paper

The 2022 UPSC-General Studies Paper 2, also known as CSAT, had a few changes in the pattern of the Verbal (English) Section. There were again no questions has been asked on decision making. Overall csat is not easy paper. The quality of questions is very good. Over all they ask questions mainly from three areas Mathematics or Quantitative Aptitude, Reasoning and Reading comprehension. The Reading comprehension some Questions are difficult and Tricky.
